Madeline and Andrew chose to elope in the gorgeous Acadia National Park in Maine this August, and I adored every minute of documenting their wedding day. They got ready in Bar Harbor, Maine and did their first look along the cliff walk nearby. As Madeline was walking to see Andrew, a tourist stopped her for a photo because she said she looked like a Botticelli painting – and in her gorgeous boho Dreamers and Lovers gown and flower crown from Chickadee Hill Flowers, she really did! After the first look and some family photos, we all drove into Acadia to the top of Cadillac Mountain, where Madeline and Andrew were married under the biggest sky, before the biggest view of the ocean, and in front of some of their closest family and friends. Afterward, everyone popped champagne, hugged, and toasted to the couple.
After the ceremony, we explored the park for their couples portraits. It was so nice to have several hours for some adventurous couples portraits. There was no rushing, no timeline, just us and some beautiful scenery and the sun getting lower in the sky. We ran along sandy beaches, stood on cliffs, and walked through the forest until dusk fell.
I have said it before and I will surely say it again – elopements are magical. If the idea of planning a big wedding or being among a lot of people is stressful to you, plan an elopement. Or just do what Madeline and Andrew did and bring your close friends and family to a beautiful place to celebrate with you for a weekend.
