Olivia and Teddie are from Massachusetts and they are having their wedding in August this summer (and I cannot wait for it!), but they currently live near San Francisco. So I was thrilled when it worked out that we were able schedule their engagement session when I was in San Francisco for a wedding a few weeks ago.  I drove from the city to meet them in Sausalito, which is the cutest little town just over the Golden Gate Bridge. From there, we drove to two locations I have been dreaming of shooting at for years – stopping first at Muir Woods. Muir Woods is a redwood forest full of moss and mist and ferns and some truly majestic trees. We wandered the paths and boardwalks there for a while marveling at the ancient redwoods and the softly filtered forest light.

Then, we drove up out of Muir Woods to Mount Tamalpais, pulling over in a small parking lot just before the sun set. I can’t really describe adequately how beautiful it was to get out of the car and look out over the rolling hills bathed in soft pink and golden light, and then to look back over to the lights of the city flickering on as dusk fell and the sky went purple and blue.

We shot until it was almost too dark to see my hand in front of my face. The wind was bitterly cold and by the end we were shivering and I couldn’t feel my fingers. But I couldn’t stop smiling because of how lovely it was and how wonderful Olivia and Teddie are. Seriously, we all laughed so much during their session.

Afterwards, we drove back to Sausalito and warmed up over some delicious food and drinks at a local restaurant and laughed some more. Olivia and Teddie are people that make you feel welcomed and like a friend right away (not to mention they are adorable in front of the camera). And I was so glad I got a chance to meet them and get to know them a bit.
