Christine and Max were married on a warm day last September at Race Brook Lodge in Sheffield, MA. They wanted their wedding to feel like a fun and relaxed getaway weekend, and they certainly pulled it off. The whole day felt sort of like a celebratory camping trip in the Berkshires with excellent food and dancing and a sweet wedding ceremony in the middle of it all. It was absolutely lovely.
They started their day off getting ready with their wedding party in the cabins at Race Brook Lodge. Christine and her bridesmaids even made their boho bouquets full of summery pink dahlias and wild eucalyptus before they started getting their hair and makeup done! While Christine got into her chic BHLDN wedding dress, family and friends were outside helping to tie seating cards, set up reception decor, and turn the lodge into a gorgeously decorated space. Mahaiwe Tent provided the beautiful rentals and dinner tent, and the harvest tables were decorated with lush eucalyptus garlands, candles, and bottles of wine. Christine and Max made jam at Max’s family’s farm as favors for guests. One of my personal favorite details were the watercolor place cards organized in an old library card catalog for guests to find!
After an emotional first look and family and wedding party portraits, Christine and Max took a walk in the woods with me and my second shooter Jess. There’s a lovely trail through the forest right behind Race Brook Lodge, and apparently if you hike long enough it even leads you to a waterfall! Whenever I go to the Berkshires I am stunned all over again by how beautiful they are.
Their ceremony was held underneath an ancient tree. Max’s sister officiated the wedding and family members did readings. It was heartfelt and personal and beautiful. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed cocktail hour and lawn games before sitting down in the tent to enjoy a fantastic dinner and listen to toasts. Then, Max and Christine shared their first dance in the barn under some glowing paper lanterns and danced with their guests into the night.
