These two started out their wedding day at a hotel getting ready with their nearest and dearest before heading off to a local park for their first look. The park also happens to be where their wedding ceremony would be, and it had personal significance to them since they walk their dog Slim there often (be sure to check out the photos for some cameos of Slim, as well!). After some portraits, they hid away as they got ready for the wedding ceremony.
I will never forget Annie’s absolutely epic entrance into the ceremony. There was a hill at the back of the ceremony site and she appeared on top of it as her guests watched and she walked down to meet Matt. What followed was one of the most personal wedding ceremonies I’ve ever witnessed. Not only did Matt and Annie write their own vows, but Annie’s sister married them and family members did readings and had a ring warming ceremony. Matt even made the stools for wedding guests to sit on. They also made the custom fabric signage that welcomed the guests into the event.
After the ceremony, everyone traveled to Apres – a really fun local restaurant – for the reception. Once again, there were so many personal touches. Annie embroidered personalized napkins for all the guests, and the foliage for the table arrangements was sourced from plants from their home. Cocktail hour and a first dance right at sunset were enjoyed outside. Then, guests headed inside to eat a delicious dinner and listen to toasts. I loved the dramatic floral arrangements by Field Floral Studio and how the integrated with the space.
I’m currently booking weddings for 2025 and 2026 in Perth, Western Australia and beyond. So if you’re looking for a documentary film wedding photographer in the area, drop me a line! I’d love to hear from you.
