Museum Wedding: Perth Wedding Photographer

This museum wedding had a Danielle Frankel gown, gorgeous florals, and an even more gorgeous couple.

I was absolutely delighted to shoot Marissa and Mike’s wedding at Mass MoCA. It’s such a cool venue with an amazing variety of backdrops for photos. Their day started out in a nearby hotel where they got ready with friends and family. Then, they met one another for their first look in one of the museum courtyard and then they read their private vows to one another. I love that more couples are taking the opportunity to do private vows together instead of feeling pressured to recite them in front of everyone if that doesn’t feel natural. It’s so nice during wedding days to cultivate quiet moments where it’s just the two of you if that’s what you want.

After the first look, we met up with family and wedding party to do some portraits. These all took place in one of the museum’s galleries, and it was so cool using the art as a backdrop for portraits. As you can probably tell from the photos, Marissa and Mike love to laugh together, and so did their wedding party. It was a really fun group to photograph. And I was so excited that Marissa and Mike wanted me to shoot film in addition to digital at this one!

The wedding ceremony took place in another gallery, under a stunning display of lights. Amy of Avela Floral Design knocked the ceremony florals out of the park. Marissa and Mike wanted a sophisticated palette of neutrals to compliment the interiors of the museum. I loved all the texture that was in their ceremony flowers.

Once the ceremony concluded, guests filtered into the reception space, which was once again decked out in gorgeous florals in mochas and creams. I thought these were especially lovely with the brightly colored mural on the walls. Everyone ate delicious food and listened to toasts and then started to party. Marissa even changedout of her first stunning Danielle Frankel Studio look into a super fun minidress for the dancing.
I cannot wait to shoot more weddings like this in and around Perth and the rest of Western Australia! If you’re planning a wedding there and you’re interested in a hybrid film photographer, fill out my contact form and let’s chat! I’m so excited to meet you.
