I started off their wedding weekend by photographing their rehearsal dinner at a local restaurant, and I could already tell this was a group of people who really loved being around one another. Carrie and Nick each got ready with their friends and family beforehand then had a ceremony in a lovely church. I especially loved how much thought they put into selecting their officiants – one of them even married Nick’s parents years ago.
After the ceremony, everyone traveled to the Gardens at Elm Bank for the cocktail hour and reception. We wandered around the formal gardens to take family photos and wedding party photos, and I loved the beautiful fountain and tall hedges. Carrie and Nick chose to have their wedding party dress in warm, bright colors, which was perfect for the time of year and all the bright colors in the gardens. I adore bright colors, and I’m a sucker for a wedding with a bold color palette. And I also loved Carrie’s dress! It was so chic and sophisticated and had amazing modern details like the texture on the fabric and the removable top to transform it.
The reception was held under a large sailcloth tent that still let the guests enjoy their surroundings. After a delicious dinner and some hilarious toasts from the wedding party, I stole the couple away for a few minutes of secluded sunset portraits. Then, everyone had a massive dance party. It was such a fun wedding to document.
