Nadja and Sam had their wedding at the Enfield Shaker Museum in Enfield, New Hampshire, which is a super cool place for an event. The rooms on the premises for getting ready were some of the most beautiful and light-filled I have come across. (Couples – take note. Having a bright, lovely getting ready space makes such a difference for photos haha!) Nadja wore her mother’s wedding dress, which she had altered beautifully. She even did a first look with her mom right after she put it on!
Nadja and Sam also decided to keep their wedding intimate and only invite those closest to them. There is just something I love about the feeling of intimate weddings, and this one was especially unique because Nadja and Sam completely eschewed tradition in favor of spending the maximum possible amount of time with their guests. After the first look and portraits, they hung out with everyone and ate and drank and played lawn games for a few hours. Then, when the time felt right, they just gathered everyone in a group and had their ceremony in front of the doors to their venue. Nothing was forced – it was just simply two people promising to love and support each other in front of those that love and support them. And it was lovely.
One of Nadja and Sam’s friends also happens to be the immensely talented Diana Mae Flowers, who farms the flowers she uses in her floral designs! She decked out the gorgeous old mill the reception took place in with wild garlands and wildflowers and the perfect deep jewel tones. It was dreamy. And anyone in the Poughkeepsie area should definitely check her out. Duck Soup Catering prepared the most delicious and beautiful meal for everyone, too. And thank you to my amazing second shooter, Jess Nadolski!
