Crystal and Rick contacted me to photograph their wedding in San Francisco while they were still living in Boston last year. They are both originally from the Bay Area, and they wanted to get married back home among their families and friends. And I love traveling to destination weddings, so I was only too happy to tag along to California!
I had never been to San Francisco before I got their for their wedding, but I loved it! The city is so cool and the area around it is beautiful. Their wedding was in February, and it was a little chilly and windy, but the sun was shining on us and everyone braved the temperatures for some outdoor wedding party and family photos at their wedding venue – Gallery 308 at Fort Mason. Gallery 308 is a really unique space with a clean, industrial feel. It complemented the gorgeous (I mean, GORGEOUS) floral design from Ampersand perfectly. The modern eucalyptus table garlands were so lovely, and they actually created an indoor forest wall as a ceremony backdrop!
Crystal looked amazing in her beautiful strapless lace gown with her undone bohemian bouquet and jacket. And the bridesmaids wore chic mismatched black dresses. Rick and his groomsmen looked dapper in their dark gray suits. I also love how the couple incorporated Rick’s love of horror movies with subtle nods like some skeletons and “til death do us part” signage. Instead of cutting a cake they cut a pizza, and they fed everyone with some delicious pizza and donuts off food trucks.
Above all, I just loved how happy and ready to celebrate Crystal and Rick were. After their ceremony they ran quickly with me to the wharf near Gallery 308 and the park across the street and watched the sun set behind the Golden Gate bridge and the little boats bobbing up and down while we took some couples portraits. Then everyone went inside and ate delicious food. Heartfelt and hilarious toasts were made, wrestling belts were handed out, and everyone danced. Crystal and Rick – thank you so much for having us there. And big thanks to my second shooter Whitney Tracy – who road-tripped with me from Yosemite to San Francisco to shoot this.
