Sergei and Gabrielle contacted me a few months ago via Instagram to schedule some wedding portraits with me. These two have a love story that spans years and continents – from China to Ireland to Australia. They officially tied the knot in a courthouse in Hong Kong a couple of years ago, and were not able to get photos done. They moved to Philadelphia eventually, and decided it was time to celebrate their marriage with some photos of them in wedding attire. Originally, they were supposed to meet me in Massachusetts, but after several public transit snafoos, we decided to meet when I would be in New York City instead. And I’m so glad we ended up having to do it this way!

We scheduled their Central Park session at sunrise to try to avoid some of the crowds, and at times it felt like we had the whole park to ourselves (save for some sweet dogs who wanted to make friends with us). The light was soft and golden and Gabrielle and Sergei were so much fun to work with. We headed to a few spots off the beaten path for some photos with a more natural background, and then made our way to Bethesda Terrace – a beautiful spot with tiles and arches that made me feel as if I were somewhere in Europe. It was so wonderful getting to know these two and hearing their amazing story.
