Anna and Dwight: A Foggy Peaks Island Wedding

Anna and Dwight’s wedding day on Peak’s Island, Maine had some of the wildest and most spectacular weather Jess and I have encountered on a wedding day. From the ferry ride from Portland, we watched as thick, billowy fog rolled in from the sea and covered the sun. The fog stuck around for most of the day, bathing everything in a dreamy haze, until the sun broke through right as we started taking Dwight and Anna’s couples portraits.

Anna looked amazing in her gown from Kleinfeld Bridal (I mean just check out how amazing the back of that dress is!) and a dramatic, cathedral length veil. And Dwight and his groomsmen wore cool custom-made bowties and pocket squares that added just the right amount of color to their navy suits. Emerge Makeup Artistry did a fabulous job on hair and makeup for Anna and her bridesmaids.

After a sweet ceremony at a local church on Peaks Island and some time running around on the rocky beach, Dwight and Anna joined their guests at their ceremony under the tent at Jones Landing. Anna hand painted the reception signage and each individual geode place card. And the floral design from Broadturn Farm was rustic and summery and absolutely lovely.

Heartfelt toasts were made, Dwight and Anna danced together and then with their parents, people laughed and ate delicious food, and it was beautiful. Just before dusk fell, massive thunderclouds started to gather and the sky became dramatic. So Dwight and Anna snuck out on the dock to watch the lightning flash over the ocean and the clouds get closer and take some portraits. It started to pour a few minutes after they returned to the reception, but by that time everyone was ready to dance for the rest of the evening.

Anna and Dwight and their families were so gracious and wonderful to us throughout the day. These two love one another a whole lot and are deeply loved by those around them. It was evident the whole time. Thank you for having us there to document all the beauty!
